The solar water heating system includes storage tanks and solar collectors. There are two types of solar water heating systems: active, which have circulating pumps and controls, and passive, which do not.
Active solar water heating system:
There are two types of active water heating systems:
Direct circulation systems:
Pumps circulate water from households through collectors to the house. They cope well in climates where there are no severe winters.
Indirect circulation systems:
The pumps circulate fluid that does not freeze through the collector to the heat exchanger. This heats the water which is then used in the household. They are popular in climates prone to icy temperatures.
Passive solar water heating system:
Passive solar water heating systems are usually cheaper than active systems, but they are usually not as efficient. However, passive systems can be more reliable and can last longer. There are two basic types of passive systems:
Integral passive collection and storage systems:
They work best in areas where temperatures rarely fall below freezing. They also work well in households with significant daily and evening hot water needs.
